US spot truckload rates drop as freight demand slows, fuel prices fall
Spot market trucking rates for loads in the US are taking a slide in January, as slower freight demand frees up more equipment. The DAT Solutions U.S. average dry van spot rate fell to $1.98 Jan. 17, dropping below $2 per mile for the first time since last May.
